FDA flags three freeze-dried treat lots in a voluntary recall
Affected lots shipped to retailers in 14 states. Here's how to read the batch code on the back of the bag.

A voluntary recall covering three production lots of freeze-dried poultry treats was announced this week after routine testing detected salmonella in a finished-product sample.
No illnesses have been reported. The affected lots shipped to independent retailers and two regional chains across 14 states between June and early August.
How to check your bag
- Find the lot code stamped near the bottom seam, not the best-by date on the front.
- Recalled codes begin with the three-digit plant prefix followed by a 2026 Julian date.
- If your bag matches, do not feed it. Retailers are issuing refunds without receipts.
Salmonella risk in freeze-dried products affects humans handling the food as much as the pets eating it. Wash hands and bowls thoroughly, and clean any surface the treats touched.
